Description:

VLSub is not working with Vlc 2.1.x, please update to 2.2.

Search and download subtitles from opensubtitles.org using the hash of the video currently playing or its title.
INSTALLATION:
- download the file from the "Files" tab above
- create a directory "extensions" at this location and put the file "vlsub.lua" inside:
* Windows (all users): %ProgramFiles%VideoLANVLCluaextensions
* Windows (current user): %APPDATA%vlcluaextensions
* Linux (all users): /usr/lib/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Linux (current user): ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (all users): /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/
* Mac OS X (current user): /Users/%your_name%/Library/Application Support/org.videolan.vlc/lua/extensions/

...or use the installer below if you're on Windows 7 (32 or 64)

To start the extension click on View > VLSub or Vlc > Extensions > VLSub on Mac OS.

Limitation

* Impossible to automatically save the subtitles on Windows if the path to your video contain non ASCII (non-english) characters and the "search by hash" method will be slower.
* The "search by hash" method will fail on Windows if for video files >2Go (if VLC is compiled with lua 5.1 anyway)

I've been having trouble with the VLSub Extension for over a week now, Every time I try to search and download the subtitles for any video/movie, a message pops up in a box saying "Extension 'VLSub 0.9.13'

*continued* "Extension 'VLSub 0.9.13' does not respond. Do you want to kill it now?". And the moment I choose "Yes", the VLC Player shuts down.
My VLC Debug Console link is " http://pastebin.com/BVzB7isk ", and my "vlc_log.txt" link is " http://pastebin.com/6y4TDmb8 ". Please help.

I have VLC player version 2.2.4 Weatherwax. I have also installed VLSub 0.10.0, but I'm still unable to download subtitles. Either it is too slow or it isn't working. Please help.

What I actually missed earlier is that Veelac solution is bringing a 'VLsub' option in the 'View' menu (above the 'download subtitles' I usually use).
If using this option, not error message anymore but no result either (but in that it could be because there is no ST available).
I try with something I know the ST are there and I keep you posted.

You still use VLSub version 0.9, you should update to 0.10 that you can download from here.

Ok it working fine using the 0.10 with the new option in the 'view' menu.

Mine's still not working. Have tried numerous times, but no use. I have updated the VLSub extension to version 0.10.0, but it's still not showing or downloading any subtitles.

When I use VLsub it shows this message:
"Extension 'VLsub 0.9.13' does not respond. Do you want to kill it now?'
I choose "yes" and then my VLC player shuts down.

If so then add: 92.240.234.122 api.opensubtitles.org to ~/etc/hosts.

The download link is under the "files" tab (they changed the website recently) and you have to put this file in the directory mentionned in "Installation" part, depending on your OS.

The only problem I have been having with this is it does not reset itself after downloading a subtitle. On next search it tries to search for the previous file. It must be deactivated and restarted to work.

i dont like the opensubtitles subs: - they insert advertising inside the movie! - they mention their name at the end of the subtitles, BEFORE the end of the movie, come on, could they wait the credits at least ? - many times the subs found are not accurate to the file, not synced, or HI Now i get subs from subscene, they're more reliable and less annoying. Too bad because VLSub was a great idea.
