Could we get some doccumentation on this thing? Where does it come from and how does it work? I have never been able to shut-down my computer from KDE....
You not only have to login with kdm, but you need to go through the kde control center under system to change settings to allow any user to shutdown the system. The default for my distribution was for any user to shut the system down, I switched it off through this, so it is definitly an option somewhere under the system category, probably in the login manager section (assuming you use kdm...I'm also speaking 3.0.x here, but I think I saw it in the 2.x also)
