Description: hey there! there is something that allway's butters me when i'am trying to build some new kwin deco's or other eyecandy's first i'll say that my skills are basickly in the developing scene i'am certenlly not the best gimper in the world and i thougt why are'nt we colebarating our skills to make better stuff for kde look whenever iam trying to build some new windeco the gimp stuff always freak me out i can do some basic stuff but not as half as good as the stuff i've seen by some of u guis so why doesnt we have asection in kde-look for pepole whos contribute their work like buttons ,title bars ideas and other gimp godies in xcf formats so the rest of us can complete the job i'am sure that if we all share our own skills the stuff we'll made would look much better is'nt it the first thing u read about linux "PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY"? please share at least your thoughts!!!
BTW did'nt know where to post it so i figure i'll just post it in here, hope i'am not violating any kde-look rule!
There is concept art (window themes-styles kde improvements) scattered thoughout kde-look. If there was a category for concept art/ideas all of it could be consolidated to a central location. This would be easier for coders to browse. As for source .xcf files they would be limited to the kde-look max file size. Anything larger in file size would need colaboration directly with the artist. This would be a starting point for some killer look and feel stuff that coders could then code and upload here on kde-look.
We did not intend on implying that full scale application development should take place on kde-look.
thats exectly what i mean, there should be asection in kde-look just for those concept art ideas i, if u all would browse kde-look comment u'll see alot of comments regarding the look of the coders artwork and every reply will almost says that "i'am not agimper i'am acoder" so i'am asking again why would acoder do agimp work it's not what is best of there's alot of pepole out there that can do amuch better job. from my c++ expirience and other OOD lunguighes the first thing u'll learn is that every class should take care of its own captebilities so why not in real life?
10x alot for your comment man!
okay, laserbrain. nice idea but not thought till the end. how should this work? will you give access to thousands of persons to a (maybe your?) server, persons that you don't even know? persons that could cause serious trouble there? the thought of administrating something like that makes me shudder.
also: every artwork in here that is published under gpl allows you to ask the creator of something to ship you the sources of his artwork and you can modify it accordingly to your purposes. so why use a big "sources-database"?
Not a very constructive comment. As none of what you articulated seems to point toward a solution. But thank you for what seems your best effort in contibuting to our discussion.
I agree! As a graphic artist "in the making" I have ideas that I can mock up but I don't want or have time to learn code.
My thoughts:
This would require central place for us bohemian graphic artists to post our concept art. So that code poets like your self could easily browse a gallery pick the concept you would be interested in coding. Artist would include the .xcf files that coders could then open in the gimp and searate the concept into the images that they need. All artwork and code would be Gpl'd!!!!!! Lets start a project!
I wonder if KDE-Look would be interested in creating a category for this purpose.
Theme Concepts
Window Decoration Concepts
etc...
Or just a dedicated concept category?
If they will i'll post to it. Who do we contact?

and with a platform, which is way better than KDE-Look can be for something like that. Ever heard of sourceforge.net?
Or, even better, Novell Forge ( forge.novell.com )?
