iChat style for Kopete

So I was bored and thought "Wouldn't it be nifty if Kopete looked like iChat?"
and here we are. So far I just have basic grey bubbles, and a fixed text size,
but I want to add more color bubbles, other user icons (or maybe use buddy
icons there, who knows)

You still have to manually set the file path to the images, but you only have
to do it once now, in the image-location variable :)

You can now set a highlight color scheme, so you could have messages with your
name be yellow instead of green, or whatever :)

Unfortunately, because of the way Kopete's XML works, I can't differentiate
between actions FROM you and TO you, like in an IRC channel. So as of now, all
actions show as if they were TO you, even when you do them.

New! Added tagwar's transparent images.
Also, fixed highlighting to not change message color.

Well its been some time

any new versions planned soon by any chance?

have you done any other work... ie karamba themes or waht not? I like your style....

Sorry, I can't do much to update this since my laptop died and I haven't had access to a Linux box that can run X well.

If there are specific requests or bugs, I can setup a PHP XML/XSL parser to try to fix those, but that's about all I can do for now...

I always use your app and something mess me: when I would consult historic messages or when I receive a message during my absence, there is the hour but the date are not appear. How can I add it? What lines I have to change in the xml file? Thanks for your help.

erm ...is this style's development dead?

it'd be a pity, because it's one of the best, most inovative styles i've seen ...come on, give yourself a push, make a new version ...you know you want to ;)

I am graduating from University in less then a month, so I'm under that last few weeks of utter over-worked madness.

After mid-May, I will have a LOT more time to work on this.

Could we have a version with the outgoing messages on the left, and incoming on right? Seems more logical to me.

For a Rightie, I'd agree that the Right - Left sorting is rather odd. :-)

No, I am not a southpaw. :D

iChat does it this way, and since this is an iChat style, it uses the same sides.

However, I will go ahead and make a 'backwards' version later (don't have time right now, look for it in a few days)

there seems to be a weird bug in icq ( only i think ) ... the background of the text inside the ballons is white!

and a wish :

could you make the configurations on an ichat.rc file ?! so we can change the ichat.xsl file without having to reedit it everytime ?

Oops, forgot to respond to the other half.

I don't see how a .rc would be any easier then editing the .xsl

You still have to open a file to edit variables, its just a different file...

However, if it did indeed make it easier somehow, I'd be willing to look into it if you showed me how :)

sorry , i dont really know how ...

but it would make a little easier , exemple :

the path of the iChat image dirs could be in the rc file.

that way , i didnt have to edit iChat.xsl everytime i replace it

I bet xsl has an include command, that way the config values could be in another file.

You'd still have to edit a file to change the values though, so I don't see any difference...

how come ?!

ichatrc : info about the path and user choices ( fonts etc , general variables)

iChat.xsl style theme it self..

you released a new version , iChat.xsl was overwritten and would pick up the config in ichatrc

right now , everytime you release a version it comes with your dir and personall settings

And if I packaged an rc, it would write over the rc also. Just extract new versions to a seperate directory at first, and transfer your settings over before replacing it.

That happens when it is setting the background color to white, and you have allow-user-colors set to yes. There's no way around it as far as I can see.

You either listen to user colors, or you don't :/

could you please change highlight so that highligh only changes the ballon ? and not the message it self ?

It only changes the bubble here...
