This might sound stupid, but I would like to know if it would be possible to make a bootable DVD with both the 32bit & 64bit versions on it.
Im unable to boot 4.1.80 in VirtualBox. Dunno, is this on my side or is there some kind of problem?
my fault, everythings works just fine.
Uff, this is hellish unstable in my PC. Knotify4 crashed permanently without interaction by me. Plasma crashed, too. I have an nvidia card so I could only try the non opengl mode. What I saw looked good, but it was unusable unstable! (Kinda disappointing.)
Same behaviour on my mothers iMac (which has an ATI card, I guess). Another thing: Okular has strange bugs with search. It does not always find anything, can't figure out why. Sometimes I enter the exact same search and the text is found. Strange. KPDF under KDE3 did work without any problems.
And evil graphical bugs in konqueror-webbrowser! The address bar is extended over all icons on the left side. It's painted above them and seems to start at a negative index. When I type in it only after several characters I can see what I type.
What is this nonsense? people "crying" out there cause KDE4.2 works bad? is not even alpha yet... come on.... Stop with the stupidity...
That comment was about 4.1 and 4.1 was meant to be used by endusers! I really like KDE and I'm using 3.5 right now. I'll wait until 4 is as stable as 3.5 before I switch. I just was shocked how unstable 4.1 was.
Torrent please? So I don't have to redownload the whole thing when one bit is corrupt and the checksum fails (and you save bandwidth).
so, now I checked out the 1.0.66 live CD, I am absolutely pleased about the fact that those show-stopping bad rendering performance seems to have dramatically improved with this version. in fact, this was the main reason for me, not to use kde4 regularly - not the usual rants about missing features/configurabiltity etc. etc... So, kudos to the kde dev team, rock on !
i don't like suse
The last one did not work at all for me (see comments above), and the one before that did not work very well either. Does this one actually run? I am very keen to really try out KDE 4, but it so far this live CD has not really made that happen for me.
did you change anything in the way cd image is created? since version 0.7 KDE Four Live does not boot on my PC. prior to 0.7 I had no problem
Likewise here. I've tried burning the image to both a CD-RW and a CD-R, and in both cases the BIOS gives a "Boot from CD:" prompt and then goes right to booting from the hard disk.
I am having serious problems with the just downloaded version 0.7.2. I am seeing lots of errormessages about invalid ELF headers, including for the X11 libs. This results in X not starting, and thus, no KDE. KDM startup resulted in error code 127, I believe.
By the way: the previous live CD *did* run KDE, although not well. I was hoping to see improvement at that front so I could really get a taste of KDE 4, but it seems I wasted another CD.
I just grabbed the latest svn (from about an hour ago) and I have 3.96.1 svn from kdebase says 743207
impossible to verify internet connection yast doesn't work poor design . Prefer to stay with kde3.X
? Yast is just suse ... thing, not much to do with kde 4 until they port it... About the poor design, I have to admit that the taskbar actually is not much appealing, but everything else is really "rich" design (first the integrated search function, then the nepomuk integrated in dolphin, the oxygen style, etc.etc.), I don't understand the complaint...
I suggest KDE to look the Gnome desktop presentation. It's different....
Then look Gnome contents and applications, are different. (but... LOL)
LOL is it your new name ! ! ! ! I write about the presentation ony ????
No, LOL it's the result of your funny declaration, if you were using kde-3.5 you wouldn't take into account gnome with all those poor apps.....
It's your opinion. I like the content of KDE but not the presentation .... I close this discussion ...
you really don't make sense!
