Running a batch of videos through the Windows version to convert just the audio from AC3. I notice there's no option to choose an audio codec. What it's outputting is AAC S32, which is what I wanted to cut down the size a bit. So that's good. But I see that it's also converting the SRT subtitles to ASS format. That is a *do not want* "feature". I am so fed up with video apps either forcibly changing subtitle formats (like VidCoder) or stripping them out (like AVIdemux). What I want is a program like Vidcoder that can easily work on a batch of videos and put the output where I want, and has the ability to work on just the audio like AVIdemux, *and also has the option to NOT screw around with the subtitles, menu items, and attachments*. AVIdemux would be super IF its author would add batch processing to the GUI *and* give it options to keep subtitles etc. I have tried and tried many times to follow directions for .py and batch files to make it work from a command line but it never works. Vidcoder *must* do *something* to the video. It cannot leave it alone. It also converts all types of text subtitles to ASS format, no matter what. Its authors have often gone on rants about how ASS is the superior subtitle format and how it's "impossible" to do things to just the audio, it would get out of synch, why would anyone want to do that? Vidcoder is a *video* app etc etc. (Nevermind that AVIdemux can change the audio codec etc without a problem while doing a video passthrough.) So instead of having ONE program that can do just what's needed, I have Vidcoder and AVIdemux, gMKVextract, MKVtoolnixGUI, and ASS2SRT. Since the two video apps either change or delete the subtitles, I have to extract the SRTs then mux them back. Since so many videos from other people are done with software that forcibly changes the subtitles, I have to extract the ASS files, convert them to SRT, then mux them back while un-checking the boxes for the already embedded ASS files. As for ASS VS SRT. SRT that's just timecodes and text with no formatting commands other than bold and italic *works perfectly fine* and is the most compact subtitle format. There's no need to bloat it up converting to a different format.
