Applying the global theme from the "download new global styles" prevented my manjaro system from starting plasma and applying the theme from git on openSUSE broke my KDE System Settings (crashes whenever I try to open any settings module from the main page, I can still open them from kcmshell5 though). It seems to be related specifically to the kvantum theme, changing that back fixes the issues, applying the kvantum theme reintroduces the issues.

I really like it though, kinda sad that it doesn't seem to work for me.
