Description: PreviewQt Plasmoid is a companion application to PreviewQt embedding neatly into the panel or the desktop of KDE Plasma. It allows for a easy and fast way to preview a wide range of different files, from images to videos, from documents to archives.

6Hello. I installed and tested it for the first time. But I still haven't discovered an effective use for this type of visualization plasmoid, as the dolphin viewer is already there on the right of the screen. Dragging and dropping is more work than double-clicking on the file. And there is no context menu for PreviewQt in Dolphin. Maybe it would be useful for plasmoid folders? 🤔
Hi, I agree it's less convenient than simply opening a file, however, this plasmoid was an easy place to start with companion applications as I was already familiar with the way plasmoids work (it works best, imo, if it sits in the panel to be always available). I indeed hope to find a way to add it to dolphin, maybe with a custom shortcut (not sure that is possible, but I want to try) or at least with its own entry in the context menu. I don't think that requiring PreviewQt being set as default application is not feasible going forward as I hope to add support for as many files as possible in one way or another.
So, I like the idea of a super preview before actually opening the file in the editor. I like the viewer bridge before the editor. However, I have not yet seen an effective and simplified approach. I hope you reach this shape as soon as possible, as I have been waiting for more than a decade. KDE4 had almost achieved this, but after it was discontinued, and Plasma 5 completely capped it. This approach never returned to home computers.
I think the most effective visualization would be to one day just point the mouse arrow at the icon and open a preview similar to what is currently the case for Dolphin's metadata (where we can even interact with this preview).
I just released v3.0 of PreviewQt that brings some improvement with that, at least when using the Dolphin file manager: If you set a global shortcut for the command `previewqt --load-selected-file` then triggering that shortcut whenever a file in Dolphin is selected will open said file in PreviewQt.
That looks like it is still PreviewQt 2.0 as it tries to load a file with name '--load-selected-file'. Can you confirm the version by going to the about window (a button in the toolbar or Ctrl I? What distribution are you on?
Hello! Now my PreviewQT is updated to version 3.0 and I tried the following custom shortcut:
=
viewqt --load-selected-file
=
However, it didn't work.
Dolphin reports that "the program 'viewqt' could not be found".
What could I be doing wrong?

Hello, I tried… I updated, I added the shortcut in the Plasma 6 settings, but unfortunately this happened: https://i.imgur.com/3noDeFO.png

Look: https://imgur.com/Qv2l9wt. It is updated from the store.
Oh, you need to update your instance of PreviewQt to v3.0. In fact, this functionality is independent of this plasmoid.

Oh, you misspelled its name, the application is `previewqt` not `viewqt`.
