So i created this tiny little service-menu to have this feature embedded into my Konqi

It will create an additional submenu in the submenu "Actions", when right-clicking any folder. The two commands in this menu allow you to either just play DVD-Content or to raise another X-Session for TV-Out-Playback.
Installation:
----------------
Just place the .desktop file of the archive into "~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/".
Note that the 2nd feature (TV-out) of this plugin needs an X-ServerLayout named "TV" in order to work correctly.
(as described here: http://www.iofcea.de/cgi-bin/seite.pl?file=linuxtvout)
... and of course you need Xine to be installed and accessible through "xine"

I've changed the line ServiceTypes=inode/directory to ServiceTypes=inode/directory,application/x-iso,inode/ISO-image I can now use the same entries to play dvd iso-images too.
MPlayer can do that too. It is just that the -dvd-device is not named very explicitly to indicate that it can also select a directory containing a copy of a DVD structure, but the manpage tells you so.
i just spent 4hrs looking around for this exact functionality thanks v much :)
After translating the text you linked to, and set this up I love it. Could you make one of these to work with movie files instead of directories?
There is already one... http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=13948&vote=good&tan=76194401
