Description:

This is a plasma theme that uses system colors and is intended to present a simple, clean feel.

It may not be to everyone's taste, but hopefully someone finds this useful.

To install: It is now included with KDE. In between major KDE point releases, updates can be installed using "New Themes" in the Desktop Settings dialog.

Note: The shutdown dialog theme in the version provided here works only with KDE 4.1.4 and later.

2.0.3 sorry for the frequent small updates. Mild OCD keeps compelling me to fiddle...
- softened systray outline and systray expander outline. They looked a little harsh after working on Atelier.

2.0.2
- yelled at the focused task theme item to "straighten up and look right". Should look better now. :-)
- *very" minor tweak to analog clock.
- to make sure changes show up for KDE 4.2 users, the package now contains the svgz files for the changed items since the 4.2 was released. You don't have to do anything special. It should work like any other update.

2.0.1 *very* minor tweak to very slightly lighten the panel outline. Helps panel edges be a little less "line-y" on mid-tone to lighter backgrounds.

2.0 Ready for 4.2 release .
- Squeezed in a few more refinements to several components for 2.0. (2.0 is whatever gets released with KDE 4.2)

1.99 Updated in preparation for the 4.2 release. I'd like to acknowledge inspiration for updates to some components from the author of the super-great, uber-awesome Arezzo theme.
- Many changes to almost all components.
- Note: The version provided here on kde-look contains uncompressed SVGs so it will work with KDE 4.1.

1.3 (updated download file)
- Apparently the I never updated the download file for the last vesion so it never matched what's actually in 4.1. That's corrected now. (geez I'm an idiot...). I'm only marking it as updated so that those who may have screwed up the version that came with KDE 4.1 by installing from here (via GHNS) can restore it properly.

1.3 updated to match svn version:
- Updated task item theme (smaller borders)
- More substantial looking pager
- Updated system tray theme (inspired by the really, really good Arezzo theme)

1.2.3 updated to match svn version:
- Updated shutdown dialog to work with new button sizes.
- Slightly more translucent background.
- Minor update for tasks and pager.

1.2:
- Added transclucent background (used by Folder View)
- Updated task item theme
- Updated clock hands and added hand shadows.

1.1.1:
- Added systemtray.svg to overide visual inconsistency with default systemtray theme.

1.1:
- Added shutdown dialog theme.
- Added pager theme.

1.0.3:
- Updated taskitem theme to work with new theming code.
- Corrected a number placement issue on clock face and slightly misaligned glass.
- Improved panel highlighting for panel widths < 100%.
- Corrected to keep krunner theme working.

1.0.2 - Minor bugfix for corners of tooltip.

1.0.1 - Minor bugfix for topright element of panel (was only noticable with panel < 100% width).

1.0 - Ok, I think I'm satisfied with this one... for now... :-)
- Fixed HandleCenterScrew on clock.
- slight modification for dialog borders
- added different panels for west and east screen locations.

0.9.6:
- Updated task item theming to fit in better with overall theme.
- Adjustments to clock face to improve balance.
- Updated analog meter.

0.9.5:
- Lightened dialogs to better match colors used by style.
- Slightly modified task item theme
- New clock
- Fixed a couple minor visual bugs in panel background and dialogs.
- Submit for Plasma Theme Contest.

0.9.1: added task item theming (again, needs latest svn version of KDE).

0.9: A couple very minor pixel imperfections remain. (Inkscape svg rendering is a touch different from QT4 svg rendering).

Thanks much for the feedback. I'll have to take a look at this calendar issue you're having. In the svn version of KDE I was running this problem didn't show up so I'll svn up and check. What color scheme were you using?

In the third screen shot the color scheme I used was Magma (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Magma?content=79053)

I'm running 4.1.82. If you're using svn and checked out after that tag, maybe it's fixed already, yet it only happens with this scheme out of all I tried.

I'm using Obsidian Coast right now, but it doesn't matter what I choose, the problem remains.

It's not affected either whether I use a composited desktop or not.

Thanks again ;)

Unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate the problem you're having. I updated the first screenshot to show what it looks like on my day old svn version of 4.2.

If others are having this problem perhaps they might supply more details that might help me figure out the problem your having. Otherwise I hope you're problem goes away with the next 4.1 daily update.

In vertical panel mode, with your theme, the system tray stacks icons on top of one another making a longer systray. With the defaut oxygen theme it stacks two to a row conserving a lot of space. Could you make aya do this?

Thanks for this theme! I love it! I like Aya because it's simple but not plain, and doesn't have weird glossy borders like the default Oxygen plasma style, and basically ALL other plasma styles I've seen. Plus, I like the stylish stripe/handle on the left. Also, I really appreciate you leaving the default look for the Notes plasmoid! I like my Post-It Notes to stand out in bright yellow, and all the themes that change the notes pale or white put me off. (What's the point of a note if it doesn't stand out?)

Thank you so much for making this theme! You are a talented artist.

Just for reference, I'm using Aya with the Oxygen window and widget style, with the Obsidian Coast color scheme.

Hi.

First thanks for that theme. Is there a way to remove the dark gray grip on the left-side of active windows in the task manager?

Best Regards

Hi, for everyone who is insterested in an easy installation of this theme (and also of slim-glow, heron, Silicon and Elegance)

you can easly install it from my repository:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/cornelius-maihoefer/ubuntu hardy main

and install the plasma-themes-extra package.

then just change the following file ~/.kde4/share/config/plasmarc. Replace the word "default" with the desired theme-name (Aya, in this case).

Cheers.

Thanks!

I thought that plasma in 4.0 was a bit of an eyesore, since it (especially the panel) looks too different from the rest of KDE. If KDE 4.1 comes out with a non-matching theme, I'm going to install this!

i'm using 8.04 kubuntu with KDE4,
unfortunately the panel of this beautiful theme is not transparent, and looks grey.

i didn't quite understand the all " trunk that has the color-sensitive svg functionality" - what exactly do i need to change for this theme to look as it does on your screenshots?
thanks :)

This theme requires a development version of KDE4 or KDE 4.1 when it comes out. This is so that the theme can adjust to the system colors. That's why it only looks grey on KDE 4.0.3 which is what comes with Kubuntu 8.04.

Kubuntu should have packages for 4.1 when it comes out (unless they backport this feature).

Hope this helps!

yeah, it does - thanks :)

after reading about it a bit, i installed desktop-effects-kde4 (the integration with compiz-fusion) and while i was at it - emerald as well :)
now i can control the opacity levels - at least until KDE's repository updates.

thanks again :)

Wonderful theme. The default theme is a little too 'l33t' for me, good to see something a little more standard. Hopefully the color-sensitivity behavior will be included in Hardy/KDE4 so I can use this.

Great plasma theme! At first I started to dislike plasma a little because the default theme, and several other themes I saw, sticked out so much from the regular theme. So thanks for this great theme! I will have no problem with plasma now :D

How do you theme the task manager objects?
The objects that are behind the window's icon and text and change when hovering/clicking them?
Do you need a specific KDE4 version?

Plasma Themes

Plasma Themes are for the main elements of the DE, like Panel, Menu, etc.
