Blue Glass XCursors 3D
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
The same animated cursors as in my 'Golden Xcursors 3D' theme, but this time rendered with a bluish, transparent material.
Maybe this one fits better into the brighter desktop themes than the golden one.
Installation:
Copy the two folders 'Blue' and 'default' to your ~/.icons directory and
restart your X-Server.
If you want to have bigger cursors, you have to create an .Xdefaults file
in your home directory and insert the following two lines:
Xcursor.theme: Blue
Xcursor.size: 48
The default size is 32.
That's it!
Note: If the animations are flickering on your nvidia card with the latest
driver, add the following line to your XF86Config file, into the nvidia
device section, to fix it:
Option "HWCursor" "off" Last changelog:

i am using this theme after trying all of X11 mouse themes...frankly this is the best theme...and definitely better than any other theme..users ...plz note that the rating given here..speaks little abt this particular theme!!!
well, its a great cursor theme.and, none other compares to it,the animations, the blue gloss, everything clicks to give my desktop cursors better than those of mac or vista.would you consider making a green version of the theme?
I've searched long and hard through all of the mouse themes on this site, and my opinion is that this one is head and shoulders above the rest. Except for the text cursor, as it is too faint and I lose it very easily when I'm working with text files (it seems like several people are having this issue). However, I did develop a way around that. First, find another theme with a cursor you like and download it. Then go to your home folder, then .icons/ (view hidden files), find the Blue cursor theme and make a backup of the file named xterm (I just copied it to another folder). Then find the same file in the theme that you downloaded and paste it into the .icons/$THEME folder, replacing the one before it. Restart the X server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) and you should be good to go. In the event that the new theme doesn't have an icon called xterm, you should figure out which one it is and rename it as such. Note that this technique should be able to be used to completely customize your mouse theme by picking and choosing each cursor type you want from several different themes!
I decided to finally go looking for a new mouse cursor theme or two and found yours. It is absolutely beautiful. Any chance of getting this in purple? Also, the "text" cursor is a little too thin, easy to lose.
These cursors are great! Although, when they are animating, theres often times when they go "blank" for a second, then resume with the animation. For ex: when the cursor is spinning (idling) it will spin about halfway, blank for a brief second, then resume. I dont know if this can actually be fixed, or how you would go about doing it, but if it could be fixed it would give a much more solid animation. Otherwise, Great Work!
Sorry, didnt read the part about adding: Option "HWCursor" "off" That did it! :)
Thanks for an awesome theme, keep it up.
thank you for this is great theme
I love these cursors! Thanks so much for them! And the animation is great. One wishlist, though: all the icons are a nice dark blue, visible on any background... except the text input one (the 'I' bar). It's very pale, so with a white background, as in most defaults for text editors, is difficult to see. Any chance of giving that a darker tint? Other than that -- 10/10 !
Hi, * 3D cursors are very nice, but - as you have written in changelog, you made it less animated, but I like the old animations :-D, would you make a version for me whit animation (I suggest quarter rotate on one side and half rotate on the other side)? Thank you, and keep on good work :-p
This is for real the best theme I always owned! It is a very great combination with icons and window style that looks like Mac OS's. In fact I use icons from http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=13287 and the Baghira theme (Brushed Metal more exactly). Excellent work :)
No offence, but I don't think the name of this theme is appropriate. "Blue Glass" implies some relation to the "Whiteglass" and "Redglass" themes included in XFree86 4.3/4.4 and X.org 6.7. The name should be reserved for a blue version of those two themes. While I'm on the topic, does anybody know where I can get a blue version of the Whiteglass/Redglass themes?
I've created my own Blueglass theme. It's just a blue version of the Redglass theme which comes bundled in XFree86 and X.org. http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=13656
hi! just one thing. These cursors are beautiful, but some of them (e.g : the hand pointer) are flickering. So, i modified my XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files, but no result. no changes. What can i do? thanks. spif
whgen i move a file ( ex in konquer) then the mousepointer is a black UGLY pointer. how do I fix this? (I suppose it's only to copy and rename a mousepoint in ~/.icons/Blue?)
like the 3D and shadows very much. only one thing that isn't perfect: the "xterm" (I, then the mousepointer is over a text) it nearly invisible. couldn't you make it a more "fat" and maybe shorter? i'll test the "gold theme" too. how about a "all-in-one", Mandrake 10 has a good mousepoint-theme browser =)
Is there any chance that you might be able to make the main cursor a little darker blue. All of the other elements of this theme have a nice darker blue that goes well with most liquid themes but the change in color for the cursor to the hand is way too noticeable. I love the color of all of the other elements but feel that the lightness of the pointer arrow is a bit overdone. Any chance in darkening it up a bit to match the rest of the mouse theme for 0.5? Thanks. Oh, and before I forget, wonderful work, the 3d effects are absolutely amazing, the best cursor theme I've seen, by far.
Would you be able to slightly increase the thickness and darkness of the typing cursor. It's very thin and nearly impossible to see at times. You could even take a shot at animating it and making it spin like the window resizing arrows. I think this would look alot better as I'm kind of tired of squinting to see where it is. Thanks.
I love this theme, but I also totally agree with this post. The text cursor is very hard to see on a light background (like a word processor or in a IDE) this is especially true on a laptop. Keep up the good work. I look forward to the next release.
I followed the instructions, created the ~/.icon directory. rebooted several times and nothing. Im running Mandrake 9.2 if any one can help.
Sorry, i am speack a little english, i am too have Mandrake 9.2. I`m create ~/.icons/default/cursors directory, index.theme i`m place into ~/.icons/default, other files placed into ~/.icons/default/cursors. All work.
Cheer and thank you, the cursors are splendid. A work splendid and a beautiful gift at the community and easy to install. Really large a thank you for your work. Greetings of France.
This is a great cursor theme. Kudos to you. Any chance of a rose or ruby variation?
I want Blue Glass XCursors 3D 0.3,who can send to me? Thanks! hu_gg@163.com
Hi, I'm very impressed of these cursor theme so I want to install it global. I don't have this folder /usr/lib/X11/icons, so where could it be? I have created the missing folder but this didn't work. I'm using gentoo linux. Hope that someone can help me ;-). -- Lenz.
