Silver XCursors 3D
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
The same animated cursors as in my 'Golden Xcursors 3D' theme, but this time rendered in Silver.
Some People requested this.
Installation:
Copy the two folders 'Silver' and 'default' to your ~/.icons directory and
restart your X-Server.
If you want to have bigger cursors, you have to create an .Xdefaults file
in your home directory and insert the following two lines:
Xcursor.theme: Silver
Xcursor.size: 48
The default size is 32.
That's it!
Note: If the animations are flickering on your nvidia card with the latest
driver, add the following line to your XF86Config file, into the nvidia
device section, to fix it:
Option "HWCursor" "off" Last changelog:

My favorite cursor theme! This is fantastic! Thank You
any new version for this cursor themes ? I found that current cursor not working for 10.04 aka Lucid Lynx version. Thanks
Thanks for cursors, but I its not rotating all time, just randomly sometime. How to make rotation constantly?
simply the best,i recommend it to all
Thank you! Good work.
When I followed the instruction it worked ok except when say running Synaptic it would revert to default mouse pointers. So I copied just the silver folder into /usr/share/icons and hey presto all works and the full 3d effects work. Do I still need the folder in my home directory?
simply GREAT :) thank you
Extract the files and put the .theme file and cursor folder in a titled folder named 'silver' or whatever and archive it into tar.bz2 format for those of you on Kubuntu or using a later version of KDE. Otherwise I would get a 'not a correct theme file' error when trying to install using the mouse theme manager.
Awesome cursors :D Thank you. However they lack of 2 cursors: - copy - default mouse with a plus (+) box under it - shortcut - also default mouse with shoutcut-arrow box under it It would be great if you would add those. I'm not very talented, so cannot do it myself :/
Thanks for your contribution to my GNOME Desktop!
...it actually crushed KDE (3.5) on my SuSe 10. Didn't believe it myself, but Problem is reproducable. Seems to be a memory problem (consumes all of it)...
Yea, I had the same problem with SUSE on two different machines. Worked on those machines with Mandriva, so this cursor set and SUSE definitely don't get along. Pity. The silver set goes really well with many themes, and the Gold is awsome with green themes.
I use ubuntu 5.04 running kde and it doesnt appear i have a ~/.icons directory? Or am I wrong, any help appreciated on what to do!
You have to create that dir.
Hello all, can someone do this theme in red?? It would be great.
I've copied the folders into ~/.icons and yet, when I logged back in (and even after having restarted my PC a few times) the mouse-icon theme was the default one. Funny thing is, after login (during splash screen) I would see the silver theme for a while and it would then switch back to Gnome Default. This being said, I am able to see some of the silver icons (browsers, resizing handles). Any idea on resolving this? thanks
Did you go to the Control Center -> Peripherals -> Mouse -> Cursor Theme (Tab) and select the Silver theme and restart the X-server? I had the same problem you did until I followed the above steps.
this is a really awesome mouse theme set!
is it possible to use this theme on mac osx, or would you consider converting it?
Those're really cool !
Wonderfull icons. I'm curently using xterm with a black background and so, the xterm icon is not quite visible. Any chance to have a kind of 'reverse' color with very dark background ? Didn't trie yet, is it possible to have tiny icons using 16x16 size whitout problems ? Fear to try ... Ok toot lazy to do it right now. Anyway, thanks for your job.
It would be great to complete the icon set. Drag and Drag+copy being the most used.
Hovering over a browser or resizing windows, the cursor turns into a tiny, ugly black default cursor. What gives!!!? Do I need to alter some links or replace some files in other themes with the files in the Silver themes? I have a version of this theme from August last year and one I just downlaoded, same behaviour in both. I really hate to see my cursor switch from large and silver to tiny and black. I want my favorite distracting silver cursor theme back! KDE 3.15 Debian sid
I like the look, but when the mouse pointer dissappears over Konqueror - well becomes hard to see. With my black background and the mostly black pointer it is very hard to find.
Is it possible to have a background sensing or XORing pointer, or at least one with a wider white center?
Thank you.
I like the look.
After installing Silver there were many files in ~/.icons/Silver/cursors with the executable bit set. Things seem to still work (pointers morph) after a chmod.
